Hello there fellow beer and travel aficionados. You may have noticed that Cryptobrewolgy.com went *POOF* for a little while there, but it’s back. I was unsure where to go with this site, and it may actually go nowhere since I’m getting involved with some other things, but there are some of you who are still interested in the various articles on the site so I feel it is a good idea to just leave it here for what it’s worth. I attempted to sell the domain but there was no interest (even though there are many companies out there using the title) so I decided to hang on to it and add to it at various points when I’m so inspired.
I will maintain that Cryptobrewolgy.com, founded in 2003, by myself and my friend, is as far as I know the first public use of the term which combines the intrigue and mystery of the field of Cryptozoology with the intrigue and love of beer. Cryptobrewology.com originally began as a beer appreciation website with the loose goal of seeking out interesting and hard to find beers. My friend and I were noobs to the whole craft beer movement and really didn’t understand the wider, ever growing, world of beer, but we liked hoppy ales and just winged it. Soon the site morphed into a home brewing related blog, with recipes and beer reviews, homebrewing kit reviews and suggestions, how-to videos and things like that.
One of my Mr. Beer how-to videos was picked up by Mr. Beer and I was actually approached to create a series of videos describing the process using their equipment. After a time someone else took over that situation and my videos have been removed from their site. I still have the originals though, and I think they were pretty good.
Though I enjoyed home brewing I found it boring to set up some kind of video session for every batch so I moved on from that, and when my partner at the time (now my wife) and I began traveling I started to capture video and interviews at various breweries and brew pubs, so the site became a travel-blog of sorts. That was fun, but as we all know life can get in the way and that exactly what happened. Fast forward and we have a website with a lot of content, but not too much new stuff.
I’m not dead, so I’m not done. I’ll just leave that there. I still love beer though I enjoy a little less of it than I used to, getting older and all that, but I still enjoye writing and will likely contribute to this site with the occasional beer-centric interest piece from time to time. If you’d like to follow what might happen here you can find Cryptobrewology on Facebook and follow us there for updates.
Stay well, and enjoy your life. I’ll see you soon.
